Commodity Classic organizers announced Secretary of Agriculture Tom Vilsack will join the annual convention again in 2012 as a keynote speaker.
The 2012 Commodity Classic is scheduled for March 1 to 3, 2012, in Nashville, Tenn., with National Association of Wheat Growers policy committee meetings beginning Feb. 29.
The annual event is the nation’s largest farmer-led, farmer-focused conference and trade show, and is the annual convention for NAWG, the National Corn Growers Association, the American Soybean Association and the National Sorghum Producers.
The event offers a wide range of learning and networking opportunities for growers in the areas of production, policy, marketing, management and stewardship, and showcases the latest in equipment, technology and innovation.
In making the announcement about Vilsack’s attendance, Classic organizers said they expect more than 4,800 farmers and other attendees during the event’s general session, where Vilsack is set to speak on March 1.
While Classic is still months away, planners are already deeply engaged in preparing for the conference.
Among other things, NAWG is again working with U.S. Wheat Associates and the Wheat Foods Council to put together an educational and entertaining booth for the Classic trade show. The NAWG Foundation is planning to sponsor a learning center session, like it has done in years past.
Additional details about NAWG and Classic events, and more information about registration and housing for the convention, will be available before the end of the year.
